Passionate, Persuasive, Prepared

Makayla joined Fishel Downey in 2026 after completing an 18-month clerkship in Ohio’s Fifth District Court of Appeals for the Honorable David M. Gormley.  While there, Makayla recognized the importance of strong legal writing and dedicated herself to improving her own writing capabilities. Makayla discovered early in her law school career that she has a passion for litigation and utilizing her problem-solving skills to assist clients in achieving a desirable outcome.

Makayla graduated summa cum laude from Capital University, where she served as a Legal Research and Writing teaching assistant for two years and participated in the school’s Law Review journal as a staff member and a note editor.  Makayla obtained her undergraduate degree in political science from the Ohio State University, and she was one of only 176 incoming students from Ohio to receive the Land Grant Opportunity Scholarship.
